Biber brings Sotol Coyote to Sweden in a limited release

Sotol Coyote Triunfo del Desierto Chihuahua joins Systembolaget’s temporary assortment today in a limited release arranged by Biber Beverage. Bottled at 50% ABV, the release introduces Swedish customers to a distinctive spirit from northern Mexico.

Sotol Coyote works with regional producers to preserve and share Mexico’s sotol traditions. Its Chihuahua expression is made by maestro sotolero Gerardo Ruelas in Aldama, using wild Dasylirion leiophyllum, a desert plant. The plants are roasted in stone ovens before fermentation in open wooden vats and double distillation in copper pot stills.

“Sotol needs an introduction of its own. The plant and regional traditions give it a different story from agave spirits. A small release lets us present that story at a manageable scale and see how Swedish customers respond before deciding on the next step.”

Biber has coordinated the Swedish submission and import arrangements, securing a place for the product in Systembolaget’s selection of limited releases. The launch gives a specialist producer access to the Swedish market through a small allocation.
